Activities for preschool children
Children begin their adventure with us at the age of 3 (sometimes 2.5-year-olds also attend this age group). The age range encompasses the entire first stage of education – preschool age. Children from 3 to 6 years old attend classes twice a week, for 30 minutes. In the first year of study, we organize 62 meetings, each for 30 minutes, in the following years of study, students receive 6 lessons for free, having 68 of them at that time.
Classes are carpet-like in 100 %, which means that children and the teacher work in a circle throughout their duration. Due to the sinusoidal nature of children's attention (which means that children lose concentration after a few minutes of a specific activity), breaks are introduced between lessons, aimed at creating space for rest, and at the same time redirecting attention to another activity. Thanks to this, classes become dynamic (our method - Dynamic English), children are engaged and approach the next stages of classes with enthusiasm. However, if something happens during classes that disrupts their course, teachers start a dialogue with children using Minimediation using the SNO method and thanks to this they are able to find needs and look for a solution together with children. During classes, children are surrounded by a safe and empathetic dome. Thanks to this, a unique relationship is created between the teacher and children, and as a result, emotions support the learning process and are something that is natural and always accompanies a person - this little one as well (our Teaching in Empathy method).
Children receive a set of materials for home revision from us. The books were discussed in detail during one of the recordings posted on our YouTube channel, I invite you to watch, I paste the link below.
Activities for school-age children
Our students who are entering the age of 7 start attending classes twice a week for 60 minutes and this amount is unchanged for all subsequent age groups working in our language school. In the first year of study, students meet 62 times, and in the following years of study there are 68 meetings - each for 60 minutes. During classes, the methods used are identical to those used in our language school, i.e. Dynamic English and Teaching in Empathy. These methods allow for the creation of a unique and exceptional relationship between teachers and students. Additionally, the size of our groups - i.e. 5-6 people - causes the intensity of work to increase. Each student speaks up during classes often and thanks to their involvement and being part of the process, and not an observer, they remember a lot and for a long time. Classes are conducted in 90% in English, the Polish language appears only as an element of translating the meaning of a specific sentence or structure (so that children know what they are learning). Our classes are 60 minutes of work immersed in the enthusiasm of learning together. The classes have a specific goal – like each of the units of those 68 meetings during the year, at the same time no one works with us “from the line”. We want to follow our students, we want to flow with the process and that is exactly what we do. At the same time, in each school year the groups complete the lexical and grammatical material specified for that year, pass semester exams and achieve success in language development (among others by passing exams and tests provided for in the work program of the Polish Education System).
Do you know what is unique about our courses? Our students do not prepare for exams - we do not run courses dedicated to the eighth-grade, middle school or high school exams - our students learn the language with us and thanks to this, no exam is a problem for them.
During the course, students are not tested, they do not have homework, we use a green pen to check their work, we introduce NVC, i.e. the language of Nonviolent Communication, to work with groups (we minimize the use of the jackal language - assessments, comparisons, epithets... etc.), we use Minimediation using the SNO method, we use the project work method, we use memetics and the achievements of neurodidactics - using all innovations, it aims to achieve the primary goal, which is - internal motivation and the brain saying "yes".
Groups, starting from the 4th grade of primary school, are covered by semester exams (the school year is divided into 3 semesters). The exams are intended to train the brain (which is a muscle) to cope with an analogous situation of a state exam such as FCE or CAE. The sections to be written are: listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, and speaking. After the exams, students receive information about what percentage of the exam was written correctly. At the end of the school year, the students' percentages are calculated based on three exams, their own information, and information from the teacher teaching the given person.
Younger children, from grades 1-3, do not take tests or quizzes. An evaluation is conducted after each chapter. These are cards with listed lexical and grammatical skills from a given part of the material. Children mark columns about themselves - I can, I can't, I want to improve. The teacher fills in an analogous card about each student, marking - you can, you can't, I want you to improve-(a). The most valuable moments are when the information does not match and we start to analyze what could be the reason for this state of affairs. Sometimes the answer is at hand - namely - the teacher did not notice that the child already knows it, or did not know it in the previous classes, but today he or she can. We want the students to see that what really counts is what I think about my skills, what I consider to be my strong point, and what is a place that requires compensation.
Students also have access to a wide range of additional, interactive and stationary materials. Every Saturday, starting in October and ending in June, we hold free consultations for our students at our office.
Interactive materials include: games on our website, sets on the quizlet app, and review videos on our YouTube channel.
