English classes for children aged 10-12

At Home of Bears English language school, we know exactly how to run language courses for children entering the world of youth.

I am enrolling my child

With English into the world of values

These English courses are designed for younger youth – grades 4 to 6 of primary school. This is a time of huge changes taking place in the brains of our students. This is a difficult time from their perspective, because the perception of themselves and their place in the communities to which we belong is changing. The perception of the world is also changing – on a micro scale (my home, my class, my school), but also on a macro scale (my country, my continent, my world). In Grizzly Youngsters courses, we take care of autonomy and follow the educational process. The compass is our students and their needs, implemented using strategies accepted by everyone. This is a time of mediation and giving space for self-fulfilment and seeing what is really important to us – and why. And also how we can take care of ourselves in a way that is safe for others. By being present in the lives of teenagers, by creating a safe and comfortable relationship, by giving attention and space – we build a relationship that is clearly defined in terms of the boundaries of each party, while accepting differences and looking for such common norms that will allow for the achievement of specific goals.

Why Grizzly Youngsters language courses?

At Home of Bears we see our younger youth and accept them as they are. We do not judge or rank them, we give them space and time to increase their own competences. We know how important acceptance is, because it is the basis for learning, i.e. making mistakes and being good to yourself, especially when mistakes occur. At the same time, we want our youth to know how important a mistake is from the perspective of acquiring new skills. We want to facilitate a mistake, we want a mistake to be appreciated - and not to see it as a source of failure. A mistake shows development, a mistake shows what needs to be compensated. Entering the teenage stage is difficult for many reasons, which is why language development at Home of Bears is compatible with the needs of teenagers. Noticing their needs and directing the source of light there gives teenagers information that they are important and noticed. Their opinion is important from the point of view of creating an educational process, following the youth while striving for the goal involves the whole group in the process of creating education together. Being responsible for one's own progress, being aware of where I am on the path of language education. Looking at myself from the perspective of the goal I am heading towards and confronting it with my actual place in the process. If I am here – what can I do, what do I want to do, how do I want to do it, what can help me with this… These are extremely valuable questions from the perspective of creating internal motivation and striving for self-development out of pure desire to learn. Our Grizzly Youngsters English courses build a path for a life attitude – a brain for yes. This is an attitude that allows you to confront a problematic situation in such a way that you see an opportunity in it, not a threat. This is an attitude that allows you to activate the brain spaces responsible for not going into a defensive state, flight or fight, but staying in higher functions – in order to develop a strategy that will help you find solutions.

During English classes we use our own original methods such as:

    • Teaching in Empathy – this is a method that allows you to look at the student from their perspective, look for needs behind the strategies they use and see what the young person wants to achieve, what their goal is and how they achieve it. Additionally, the method allows you to get to know yourself, your own emotions, needs – the ability to name and distinguish them. Young people have the opportunity to look at a given situation from a different perspective – expanded by the perspective of another person. This method is a catalyst for creating a bond and an authentic relationship between members of a given group and their mentor.
    • Dynamic English – a method based on jumping from activity to activity – and consequently activating different areas of the brain so that neuronal connections can be created in greater numbers. The method also allows for the creation of myelination – that is, strengthening of neural connections (already existing) so that the impulse can proceed faster – and in an automated manner. The attention of young people is no longer so susceptible to distractions, but the variety of methods used is important in terms of memorizing content.
    • The Golden Ratio Method – this is another original method used in Grizzly Youngsters courses to introduce grammar. This method is applicable to every class, because we want our young people to operate with grammar issues automatically. In order for them to be able to create every type of sentence – affirmative, negative and interrogative, we want them to be able to answer questions, both resolution and complement.

Grizzly Youngsters classes are held in Gliwice and Żory, in small groups and an atmosphere that supports language and emotional development. Check which location will be best for your child.

🧭 FAQ – Grizzly Youngsters (10-12 years old)

    1. What is the purpose of this course?

Our main goal in the Grizzly Youngsters course is to develop communication skills in English - natural, relaxed and embedded in real situations. We want children to gain confidence in speaking, understanding and expressing their thoughts, not just knowledge of grammar rules or a list of words.

    2. Are children prepared for exams?

We do not provide classic preparation for language exams. Instead, we focus on the skills that are the basis for passing any test – understanding, speaking, logical construction of statements. Children who complete our courses also do better at school – although this is not our main goal. Our students, of course, pass exams and do so without major problems and prepare – they know English because they learn it on the course.

    3. What methods are used?

We use approaches based on movement, stories, emotions and communication – we draw from NVC (Nonviolent Communication), storytelling and drama techniques. This makes children not only learn the language, but also better understand themselves, build empathy and practice expressing their own thoughts.

    4. Do children need to have a certain language level?

We do not require a specific level, although we try to create groups of similar advancement. When signing up, we talk to parents and suggest the best match. Every participant will find space for development with us - regardless of what their previous education looked like.

    5. Does the course replace English lessons at school?

Instead of repeating material from a textbook, we introduce living language, teach practice, and help students build a real bond with English. Many parents say that it is only after our classes that their children "open up" to the language.

    6. How do children react to lack of grades?

With great relief! The lack of assessments and comparisons makes children feel free and can experiment with the language. This translates into greater activity, creativity and a positive attitude to learning. We see children change from closed to confident people who want to speak.

    7. Is there homework?

We do not assign traditional "homework". Sometimes children get inspiration, e.g. to tell something in English to their parents, listen to a song or try to use a new word at home. These are light, interesting forms of consolidation without pressure. Homework is not necessary also because children learn everything we want to teach them during classes.

    8. How long is the course?

The course is divided into two semesters in the school year, with the possibility of continuing year after year. Classes are held twice a week, depending on the group. Each lesson lasts 60 minutes and includes a lot of communication, movement and reflection.

    9. Are there any vacancies during the year?

There are some vacancies, although groups fill up quickly. It is worth writing or calling – if possible, we are happy to accept new students during the semester, helping them to settle in smoothly and without stress.

    10. In which cities is the course conducted?

Classes are held in our cozy rooms in Gliwice and Żory. Both locations are perfectly connected and prepared for working with children - friendly, comfortable and intimate.
