With English into the world of values
This is a language course for children from grades 1-3 of primary school. Children attending this course are between 7 and 10 years old. This is an educational stage that builds the foundation for further development of language skills and competences. Children at this age have constant attention, which works like a roller coaster - which means that they quickly move from a state of coding - i.e. concentration, to a state of relaxation - i.e. complete lack of interest in a given element. Classes are based on intertwining multiple activities - so that the brain has the ability to react quickly, and therefore, so that attention can move from one activity to another - completely different from the previous one.
In Grizzly Cubs courses, we work based on the Dynamic English and Teaching in Empathy methods. These are two original teaching methods, created by Ms. Anna Górny-Bogulska and accredited by her. The Dynamic English method, as the name suggests, is based on the dynamics of working with a group. Thanks to the use of this method, classes are engaging and interesting - because they are based on many activities that aim to practice a given skill - whether in using a specific grammatical structure or a given section of vocabulary.
The second method present in Grizzly Cubs courses is the Teaching in Empathy method. It is present in every class, helps children understand their own emotional states, helps to name needs and strategies used to fulfill them. It is a method that gives children safety and comfort in confronting, above all, problematic situations - such as failure, quarrel, irritation, nostalgia. Additionally, thanks to the Teaching in Empathy method, children try to look at the situation from a different - than just their own - perspective, and as a result, they learn to feel compassion, i.e. empathy.
Why Grizzly Cubs language courses?
At Home of Bears, classes are conducted completely differently than anything you have encountered so far in terms of education. Grizzly language courses introduce children to the world of relationships. For a child - being at school and being in grades 1-3 - is a time of forming first friendships, and consequently entering into relationships - and opening up to them. Relationships that are formed not only in the family home, but above all peer relationships. How they will be formed and how the child will feel in them is an extremely important factor - from the point of view of transferring and absorbing knowledge. If a child feels good in their group - they know that they can make a mistake, they know that they are accepted exactly as they are, they know that they do not have to chase anyone, they know that they are not required to race, and they are offered support, then huge educational opportunities open up. Security as one of the needs of every person - if it is satisfied - allows for memorizing content faster and in a more lasting way. Emotions that always accompany us are also an important educational element.
We, the mentors at Home of Bears, make sure that children have space to express their emotions, while taking care of all the people in the relationship. If children use strategies that arouse our opposition, we can communicate this to them in a safe and non-invasive way, giving understanding and taking care of the relationship. Emotional and social development go hand in hand with the language development of our children.
Grizzly Cubs courses are held in Gliwice and Żory. Both locations provide children with a free space to learn and play – without pressure, but with a lot of relationships and language adventures.

🧸 FAQ – Grizzly Cubs (7-9 years)
1. What age is this course for?
The Grizzly Cubs course was designed for children aged 7 to 9, mainly for students in grades 1–3 of primary school. During this period, children are curious about the world, physically and emotionally active, which is why our classes are dynamic, tailored to their needs and based on play and building relationships.
2. Do I need to know English to join?
No – our groups are open to children who have already had contact with the language, as well as those who are just starting their adventure with English. We adapt the course program to the level of the group, so that each child has a chance to feel confident and develop at their own pace.
3. How are these classes different from lessons at school?
Our classes are not like typical school lessons. There are no assessments, tests or the need to "answer at the blackboard". We focus on experience, movement, emotions and authentic engagement of children. English appears naturally in games, stories and interaction with the teacher and peers.
4. Do children learn to write and read in English?
At this age, the most important skills are speaking and understanding, so writing and reading appear only as an addition – always in the context of fun and interesting content. We do not teach the alphabet or grammar in isolation from everyday language. Everything makes sense and results from the needs of children.
5. What are the groups – in terms of number of children and age?
We create small groups – from 5 to 8 children who are similar in age and language. This arrangement helps build bonds and work comfort. We try to make the children feel good about themselves and the group stable throughout the school year.
6. What does a typical lesson look like?
The lesson lasts 60 minutes and consists of several stages: introduction through rituals and greetings, movement part, picture activities, short story and joint ending. Each element has its place, which gives children a sense of security and predictability.
7. Do you use textbooks?
We use textbooks only as supplements – we focus on original materials, picture cards, scenes and sensory elements. Thanks to this, children are more engaged, and the language is lively and practical. Materials are created with children's current interests and the flexibility of the method in mind.
8. Does your child receive any materials to take home?
There are no mandatory homework assignments. Sometimes we give parents materials to play with at home – for example, songs or mini-exercises to support memory. This is always something the child can do without stress and enjoyment, and not a “task to do”.
9. Can I observe classes?
We organize special open days and demonstration classes, to which we invite parents. During the year, we also provide information about the child's progress. We encourage conversations with the teacher - we are open and we care about good contact with parents.
10. Where are classes held?
Grizzly Cubs courses are held at our locations in Gliwice and Żory. Both spaces are adapted to children's needs - it is colorful, safe and intimate.
